Living in the premises of a community, we
at Pramila International are worried at the colossal wastage of human
talent inspired by utter lack of education. Being a young company run by
young people, we have come to appreciate the importance of providing
learning opportunities for today’s children as they become the leaders
of tomorrow. And that is why we are currently supporting “Books To
Read”.
“Books To Read” is a
Singapore based non-profit initiative ran by a group of young volunteers
with a noble goal to improve the learning conditions of the schools in
less privileged countries by increasing the amount of useful educational
materials through the re-distribution of used textbooks collected. It is
rooted in the belief that education is a sustainable means for personal
and collective development, and conceived out of a desire to inspire
children with knowledge that is locked in books.
Project SAIL (Singapore-Africa
Initiative for Learning) is the flagship project of Books To Read which
distributed 15,000 textbooks to the few beneficiary schools: Schools run
by The Earth Assistance Foundation in Tanzania and Mindolo Secondary School in
Zambia.
We have donated manpower and resources
to “Books To Read” and we hope to reach out to more children to help
them read and learn as we grow further with sincerity. |
