The Tea Industry in India is grouped as manufactures, exporters and retailers of tea. The industry consists of three main groups – producers, brokers and exporters. The producers are literally the ones who manufacturer tea, and comprise of persons involved at plantation and factory level.

Brokers are the middlemen who play a vital role in this industry, as they act as a medium of communication between the producers and buyers, and conduct marketing for the plantations and factories. The exporters and buyers are the final group who consist of a large number of companies both domestic and international.
